Hash Trash -- Run 1136

HASH NO: 1136
VENUE: Bathsheba Community Centre, St Joseph
DATE: 09 th July, 2005
HARES: Soft Balls & Hot Lips
SCRIBE: David Wall

It was one beautiful Sunny afternoon, on the boundaries of the picturesque Bathsheba overlooking the sea, where the waves were lapping at the feet of the rocks. And in the distant background we could view sea bathers frolicking in the Atlantic Ocean, and around the nearby park. The landscape was a sight to behold, as the gentle breeze caressed our faces of many colors. It was from this backdrop that the bar was strategically positioned in front of the community centre.

As usual, the hares, Brian “Soft Balls” Stanley, Margaret “Hot Lips” Foster and her two daughters summoned the pack to attention for instruction and the command given to head east of the pavilion leading along the coastline. The going was quite easy in the beginning; all the hashers were quite relaxed until we came to the first grueling hill, where the hashers ascended, and the picturesque scenery, which was breathtaking, was now taking our breath away! The terrain was steep and rugged, which is typical of the St. Joseph constituency [the stomping ground of ex political representative and legal luminary Dr. Richard Cheltenham] Wow !!! What a hill. I have never seen so many hashers at one time stealing away into a RUM SHOP to refuel. Christian and company were the guilty culprits. They should have gotten the S_I_ SHIRT.

In spite of the hilly terrain, the front runners were moving quickly. Normally, as walkers, we would meet the runners at quite a few checks, but that was not to be on this particular day. The complete run was On On throughout. We were kept on our toes, and most of the hashers were sweating profusely.

At one time I was walking alone, not a hasher in front or behind, and that was almost the norm throughout. However I was comforted by the use of two Walkie Talkies one of which was manned by “ Grannywalnut” my other half, for which she got a down down, but hey, it’s just a free drink. So on and on we went, like Jack and Jill, only I had a bottle of water instead of a pail. We traversed across bridges with water gushing beneath heading towards the open sea or the nearby gullies.

But on and on we went amidst the short cutting, the trollopy behavior and the lot. But at long last the welcoming sight of the two most important words that fall from the lips of most hashers or the words that our eyes fall upon, and not having the strength to utter from our lips, ON IN. And again the picturesque scenery and a breath of fresh air against our faces as we head up the final hill, tells us it’s all over, or is it ???? Some of us still look forward to the beers; the down downs; the roasted breadfruit with margarine and pork or some other meat, and in one instance there was SOUP being served up by James Elliot from the rear of his vehicle, it was good, but should that surprise us !!! The best cooks are us men! Sorry ladies it’s true. It was a good hash.
