Hash Trash -- Run 1170

HASH NO: 1170
VENUE: Mullins, St. Peter
DATE: 28 January, 2006
HARES: Tracey Krumpak & Lidia Luther
SCRIBE: Francie "China Brush"

We gathered once again on a beautiful hillside overlooking the west coast and Mullins Bay. Some of us thought we might have had a swim but the run site was too far from the seaside. The hares, Lidia "RU" and Tracy "Crazy American Girl" had set up their dining table complete with tablecloth and background music. Hounds arrived for what they thought would have been one of Lidia's marathon runs but she had been asked to keep the run adequate as some hashers planned on the Burns Night supper later that night at Sunbury. Conspicuously absent was the Doc. The HM announced an increase in bar prices to $2.50 per ticket effective March 1 and that ticket's colour would be changed at that time. We were treated to a hash ode to Robbie Burns by Andrew "Biker Boy" Shillinglaw in his best Scottish tongue (copy attached) Lidia gave us direction and we were off through the lower field to the main road.

At the first check, the FRB's floundered and the hares drove up and gave me the direction of the ON -- down the road and to the right at the last palm tree. From there, we ran through cart tracks and round cane fields, till we met the split off walkers and runners at the gully entrance. Lidia had advised of a walkers' route sans gully -- but the gully was quite pleasant and relatively easy -- I'm sure some walkers could have traversed it. The ON IN was at the gully's exit and we were home -- to enjoy the hillside once more, the splendour of the West Coast and as night fell, the cool breezes that had some of us huddled around the BBQ.

Hounds were punished by Ian "MegaBytes" for such offenses as Deliberate Shortcutting (O'Neale "DHASY"), Trollopy behavior (David "Shaggy"), two Poofters were chastised (Rae "Balloon Man" -- welcome back Rae and Jacky "Short Tits" and ?) and there was no shortage of Shites as Ian bestowed the cold black shirt on four miscreants -- Damian "Dr Dish" (for bad behaviour during the down downs), Carey "Full Beam" (for answering her cell during the down downs while acting as apprentice), Andy Bangle and Ian "Putters" (for not wearing the shit shirt that day).

The bar was drunk dry and we enjoyed the BBQ and the cool breezes until it was time to seek a warmer place (good thinking Chris "If I May") and the final bits of bar, cases and coolers were distributed.

ON ON to Run 1171.

Burns' Homage to the Hash (freely adapted)

Green grow the cane grasses, O;
Green grow the cane grasses, O;
The sweetest hours that e'er I spend,
Are spent amang fellow hashers, O.

There's nought but care on ev'ry FRB,
In ev'ry hour that passes, O:
What signifies the life o' man,
An' 'twere na for the hares, O.

The war'ly hounds may beers chase,
An' checks still may puzzle them, O;
An' tho' at last they catch them fast,
There's always the next until the On In, O.

Then gie me a canny hour at e'en,
My hands about my beerie, O;
An' war'ly cares, an' war'ly hares,
May a' gae tapsalteerie, O!
